Domaine Capelanel was established in 1878. This 14 hectare estate near the village of Fages boasts 70+ year old Malbec vines grown on sidèrolithique (high iron content / strange orange colour) soils. Fifth generation winemaker Sébastien Dauliac is making dark, ripe, sultry wines that are lively yet under-stated.
Almost black in appearance, this is a serious Malbec. A concentrated nose, rich, perfumed and complex with outstanding aromas. On the palate, it's almost unexpectedly alive and vibrant, with real driving acidity and very fine tannins.
A good accompaniment to meat dishes, casseroles and mature cheeses.
