Vranec, known as Vranac in its home country of Montenegro, is a red wine grape from Macedonia, which makes a deep purple wine with a fruity, floral aroma at first, though after a year or two it develops a richer, red colour and a more intense bouquet of black fruits, herbs, wood and even notes of chocolate or cinnamon. Usually harvested towards September and October, Vranec wines have a longer ripening time making for a fuller taste and body.
