The appellation of Petit Chablis was created in 1944, an area of 1189 hectares that represents about 19% of all Chablis production. Located on the higher slopes (230-280 m in altitude) on both sides of the Serein River, the soils consist of hard brown Portlandian limestone, sand and silt. The wines of Petit Chablis are fresh, frisky, energetic and immediate, and in good vintages this appellation offers outstanding value for money. There is nothing ‘little’ about Petit Chablis!
