Lochlea red wine cask release is an annual release inspired by the finishing of their mature spirit in red wine casks. Each year will bring a different expression of red wine, inspired by the casks they believe best compliment their style. For this first release they have taken their whisky matured in 1st-fill Bourbon barrels, then finished in carefully selected Grenache casks.

Lochlea is an independent family owned farm and distillery based in the heart of Ayrshire, Scotland. At Lochlea Distillery they have been quietly distilling and maturing their single malt Scotch whisky using barley that they grow and harvest on the farm. Since their inaugural whisky launch in January 2022, they have attracted a dynamic, experienced team, drawn from some of the best-known global whisky brands.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of fresh pink berries, sweet and floral, some oak and tannins. The palate has fresh juicy red fruits, particularly berries and cherries, sweet vanilla and almond flavours like a strawberry shortcake. Finishing with rich oak, cereal, tannins and spiced biscuits.
