Bruichladdich Distillery was built in 1881 by the Harvey brothers. The Harveys are a dynastic whisky family with over a century of distillery ownership including Glasgow’s Yoker and Dundas Hill Distilleries. The three brothers decided to combine their expertise to build a third Harvey Distillery: Bruichladdich.
On the nose fruity hard candies and liquorice faded as pear tarts and marzipan came into focus; dry baking spices with cinnamon sticks and orange; more subtle layers of earth and herbs, freshly milled wood, and shiplap decorated faux-barn walls. The palate is oily with notes of candied orange and citron peel with toffee and caramel brittle. A long and lingering finish.
