Pitchfork is produced exclusively for us by the Harvey family at their Chalk Hill estate in the McLaren Vale. Their winemaking philosophy is very much based around small batch, hand crafted wines of distinction. The family’s grape growing heritage goes back six generations and now incorporates six vineyards in the McLaren Vale region. The terrain at Chalk Hill is intricate and varied. Located at the convergence of a number of naturally defined winegrowing regions, the estate features a range of microclimates, soils and exposures that require well-reasoned, site-specific farming protocols. It’s this unusual complexity of terroir that allows them to create wines that are intense, balanced and distinctive.
On the nose there are clean aromas of melon, peach and nectarine. The palate is fruity, clean and medium bodied with good freshness. Part of the new wave of clean, fresh Australian Chardonnay. If you think it's a grape variety you don't like, try this - you might be converted!
A very versatile wine. Try eggs benedict, caesar salad, brie or camembert.
