For Le Charme Sauvignon Blanc, the 2025 vintage marks a particularly special chapter as we celebrate 25 years of working alongside renowned Plaimont winemaker Christine Cabri to create one of the most enduring and successful wines in the House of Townend portfolio.
To commemorate the occasion, this year's release carries a special anniversary label, recognising a partnership built on trust, shared values and an unwavering commitment to quality.
Every December, our buying team travels to Gascony in southwest France to meet with Christine and her colleagues at Plaimont. Together, we taste through the new vintage, assessing individual vineyard parcels from across Saint Mont, Aignan, Plaisance and Condom.
This annual blending session is one of the highlights of our calendar.
Each parcel offers something different, whether that's freshness, aromatics, texture or fruit character. Through careful tasting, discussion and refinement, the final blend gradually comes together, with every decision focused on producing a wine that remains unmistakably Le Charme.
Rather than following a fixed recipe, each vintage is crafted to reflect the character of the harvest while maintaining the fresh, vibrant style that customers have come to know and love.
Le Charme has never been about producing the same wine year after year by following a formula. Instead, every vintage is blended individually, allowing the unique conditions of each growing season to shine through while preserving the balance, freshness and drinkability that define the wine.
The 2025 vintage is no exception.
Despite lower yields across parts of Gascony, Sauvignon Blanc performed exceptionally well. According to Christine Cabri, the cooler growing season produced wines with excellent freshness, precision and natural balance - qualities that are perfectly suited to today's wine drinkers.
The finished wine is bright and aromatic, with vibrant citrus and tropical fruit flavours, crisp acidity and a beautifully textured palate, all at an approachable 11% ABV.
Looking back at the evolution of Le Charme over the past 25 years, from its very first vintage in 2001 through to today's anniversary edition, it's remarkable to see how the label may have changed, but the philosophy has remained exactly the same.
Our aim has always been simple: source the very best vineyard parcels, blend with care, and produce a Sauvignon Blanc that consistently overdelivers on quality and value.
Twenty-five vintages later, we're incredibly proud of what this partnership has achieved and grateful to the many customers who have made Le Charme such an enduring favourite.
