Wood's

Wood’s is a blend of three rum marques, each with its own unique history, and all distilled at the Diamond Distillery in Guyana. Guyana was a Dutch colony in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, with up to 380 sugar plantations, most with their own rum distillery. In 1814 Guyana was taken over and united by Britain, formally becoming British Guiana in 1831. When the British abolished slavery in 1833, labour became more expensive and the price of sugar dropped, so the sugar plantations were consolidated. By the end of the 20th century only the Diamond Distillery remained, which still uses two of the original wooden pot stills and many of the original rum marques.
Toffee, cinnamon, cloves and pepper spice on the nose with thick caramel notes. These flavours continue on the palate. It is very smooth, considering its hefty abv. A relatively short finish with syrup and toffee notes.
Nest served neat or in cocktails.
