Overlooking both Cheval Blanc and Pétrus, this is a beautifully located, family owned château that produces outstanding, affordable claret. It is one of the oldest properties in Montagne which in itself is the smallest appellation in the Bordeaux region with only 18 growers. Dating back to the 16th Century the property has 23ha of vines that surround the Château. Jacques Rambaud took over from his father in 2005.
Yields of 55hl/ha and aged in 60% old barrels and 40% in tank, this is a delicious and well balanced wine with stewed prunes dominating the bouquet, ripe and round black fruit notes on the palate with a smoky, toasted oak underlay. Well constructed, this is an edgy, impressive claret that offers terrific value for money.
