Château Fonplegade

The impressive 18.5ha property, situated close to the famous Château Angelus, belongs to Americans Denise and Stephen Adams who, with the advice of Michel Rolland and Stéphane Derenoncourt are now producing one of the best value for money Grand Crus in St.Emilion.

Deeply coloured, the nose is very open and full of black fruits and deep brooding aromas of smoky liquorice. The texture is quite remarkable, velvet and silk and the black currant sweetness is so alluring. The wine is beautifully balanced and a fine line of minerality runs through the core. The investment in this château in recent years is now bearing outstanding results.

Delicious with beef ribs with mushrooms, bacon and potatoes.
