Type: White Wine
Country: France
Region: Burgundy
Code: MONT540
From a small 2.1 hectare plot of 50 year old vines, which is sadly no longer under the control of the Desfontaine brothers, this is the final vintage of this impressive wine. The thin, chalky soils produce lower yields, giving the 2024 wine remarkable minerality, tension and focus.
This is an En Primeur wine and special conditions apply.

Château de Chamilly

Château de Chamilly stands in the heart of a green valley situated to the north of the Côte Chalonnaise, 20 minutes south of Beaune. It was built during the 17th century by Noël Bouton (lieutenant general of the armies of King Louis XIV, Governor of Strasbourg and Marquis of Chamilly), on the foundations of a 14th century fortified farm. The Desfontaine family bought it, along with the surrounding land, at the beginning of the 19th century. Taken with the buildings, the land and the incomparable lifestyle, the Desfontaine family continually restore and develop the surroundings.

Crisp, steely and precise, the palate shows notes of pear, lemon and apple, complemented by a subtle creaminess from lees ageing, all balanced by a vibrant acidity and an energetic, mineral driven finish.
Handpicked in small baskets and fermented in stainless steel, the wine was aged on fine lees for six months before bottling, with no oak influence.
