Colheita Port is rare as it is always from a single, well regarded year and comes with many years ageing. Unlike the british system of blending wines and years together, Colheitas show well and always retain that special character of the special year they were harvested in.

Poças Júnior

In 1918, a few months before the Armistice, Manoel Domingues Poças Júnior, who had been born in the heart of the Port Wine hustle and bustle, decided to establish his own company. Manoel Poças was 30 years old and he had some experience in this business. With his uncle, he created a company to sell grape spirits to large Port Wine shippers. Soon afterwards he opened a head office in Vila Nova de Gaia, where they remain to this day. Today, with three quintas in the best winemaking areas of the Douro Demarcated Region, Poças ensures its total control over the quality of its wines and the family is more involved than ever before.
Golden colour with a complex nose and palate, though also very fresh, and with a really lovely invigorating acidity.
Try this wine with top end cheese, especially cheddar and blue veined, treacle tart and a chocolate pot with cherry syrup.
Fines in oak casks for a period no less than 7 years. During maturation the wine mellows by oxidization similarly to Old Port wines, and presents characteristics that are unique of the harvest year.
