Montsant

Situated in Spain’s north-eastern province of Catalonia, Montsant is almost due west of Barcelona, and benefits from the hot, dry climate in the region. The region has a history of viticulture since the times of the Romans, who brought vines to much of Northern Europe in the 2nd Century. First cultivated by Catholic monks in the region, it was considered among the world’s premium wine producing regions by the 19th century. Grapes grown include Garnacha, Tempranillo and an assortment of white grapes which make Cava.
