Baron Philippe de Rothschild
Baron Philippe de Rothschild makes varietal wines from the south of France, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. The Domaine also makes wines using grapes from the Uco Valley. The name Rothschild first emerged from the obscurity of the Frankfurt back streets 200 years ago.
It quickly became a synonym for quality and excellence, whether in the field of financial services, wine, science, fine art of architecture. Across two centuries and many generations, the Rothschild emphases have remained unchanged - on innovation, industriousness and above all on the strength which lies in unity.
A fine, deep gold coloured wine with an intense nose, displayng a highly complex mix of fresh and preserved fruit aromas (apricot, peach) together with floral notes. This wine has a power flavour and is round on the palate.
An ideal wine to accompany mild creamy curries like kormas or spicy south-east Asian curries. Even curries made with curry powder work well as do spicy dishes with a hint of peach or apricot, echoing the flavours in the wine. Try with mild spicy noodle dishes like Pad Thai or perhaps a chicken salad with apricot, peach or mango. A fantastic accompaniment also to fruity chicken and even lamb tagines with aprico.
