Our winemaking project in South East Australia has been extremely successful, working in partnership with winemaker Aidan Menzies.
Our aim? To produce a pair of delicious everyday drinking wines that made Australia so popular in the early years of the millennium, and
to offer the wine drinker a clear alternative to the drab, characterless wines bottled here in the UK. BINGO!
Pale in colour, ripe Chardonnay fruit characters on the nose, pear and custard apple with a degree of citrus. A delicious Chardonnay that delivers on flavour - rich and smooth with ripe fruit-salad flavours and a lovely creamy mouthfeel.
Try with Chicken and Mushroom Pie
Parcels of fruit destined for the Rooks Lane Chardonnay are kept separate during a cool fermentation that maximises the fruit character. A number of different yeast strains are used to add complexity to the wine. Ferments are then left on yeast lees and periodically stirred, helping to contribute to a creamier mouth feel. Only the best of the resultant batches make it through to the final Rooks Lane blend.
