Pitchfork is produced exclusively for us by the Harvey family at their Chalk Hill estate in the McLaren Vale. Their winemaking philosophy is very much based around small batch, hand crafted wines of distinction. The family’s grape growing heritage goes back six generations and now incorporates six vineyards in the McLaren Vale region. The terrain at Chalk Hill is intricate and varied. Located at the convergence of a number of naturally defined winegrowing regions, the estate features a range of microclimates, soils and exposures that require well-reasoned, site-specific farming protocols. It’s this unusual complexity of terroir that allows them to create wines that are intense, balanced and distinctive.
On the nose there are aromas of plum, mulberry and black raspberry which follow through onto a lush palate with fine savoury tannins.
Goes well with barbecues, or with a good beef and mushroom stew.
