Paddy Borthwick Right Hand Pinot Noir

PADD010
In the best years, Paddy Borthwick and assistant winemaker Braden Crosby indulge in a thought exercise made real and liquid. Selecting a premium parcel of Pinot Noir each, they vinify them to represent the different nuances of their personalities - Right Hand for the “intuitive, impulsive and thoughtful” Borthwick, and Left Hand for Crosby, who is “logical, creative and precise”. Bursting with a bouquet of maraschino cherries, plums, cranberries and cedar with hints of dark cherry, cloves and wild herbs, this is a fabulous wine.

Borthwick Vineyard

Established in 1996, Borthwick Estate lies in the heart of peaceful Wairarapa just northeast of Martinborough in the south of the North Island. The 27 hectares of vineyards sit on an old stony river terrace with free draining alluvial soils and a unique micro climate, all surrounded by stunning views. The warm daily temperatures, cool nights and low rainfall provide ideal growing conditions. Paddy began his career at the highly prestigious Roseworthy College in Adelaide before gaining 15 years of experience in the trade, 7 of which were spent abroad. Twenty four vintages later, he returned home to plant the vineyards in the premium wine belt of Dakins Road. He believes passionately that the quality of his wines is as much a testament to the excellence of the Estate fruit as to his undoubted skill in the winery.

Tasting Notes

A bouquet of maraschino cherries, plums, cranberries and cedar which are complemented by a core of dark cherry, cloves and wild herbs. A rich, soft palate with finely integrated tannins.
