Mitchell Wines

Jane and Andrew Mitchell run the winery on the Mitchell family property in the western hills of South Australia’s Clare Valley in the picturesque Sevenhill region. Andrew was born on the estate and after a brief foray into economics returned with Jane, a former nurse, to establish the winery in 1975. Their home and winery started life as an old sandstone apple store. The vineyard practices are ‘Old Style’ farming with minimal intervention, no chemicals, no irrigation and biodynamic treatments. There are four vineyards at an altitude of between 300 and 450 meters, the vines age between 5 and 50 years old. Today they are joined by their son Angus.
An intense, concentrated sweet wine packed with flavours of tropical fruits and candied orange peel.
Ideal with paté or blue cheese.
The Semillon grapes for this wine were picked 5 weeks after the rest of the vintage was harvested. The grapes were hand picked, sorted then whole bunch pressed. Clean cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks was carried out to preserve the delicate ripe fruit flavours.
