Tasting Notes

A wine with a very fresh and very complex nose with notes of creme brulee, dried apricot, quince and hints of wild strawberry and fresh fig. A really stunning bouquet, developing a touch of chlorine with time. The palate is just huge: incredibly powerful, spicy hints of caramel, gif, Indian spice, Chines 5 spice with an extravagant bravura finish that is so viscous and beautifully defined with apricot lingering seductively on the back-palate. Absolutely stunning.

Food Matches

This is a luscious wine to enjoy with a rich dessert. Desserts were made for this wine, as are sweet mince pies, Christmas cakes, Stolen cakes and other rich Christmas fruit confections. With Cheese and Christmas cake A particularly excellent way to enjoy a glass of Malvasia is with a piece of Christmas cake accompanies by a slice of white stilton cheese, or even better Christmas cake accompanied with a piece of rich wonderful Wensleydale cheese from Yorkshire. With Chocolate, with Fruit, with Ice cream or all three Chocolate desserts served with Malvasia are greatly enhanced, as is fresh pineapple…..pour the wine onto the fruit for a real treat! Ice creams and sorbets are also great partners for this wonderful sweet wine. In fact there are few desserts this wine cannot accompany and enhance.
