Château Lafont Menaut
A newly created property to watch out for, Château Lafont Menaut is situated in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, 15 kilometres south of Bordeaux. Its name comes from the place-name "La Fontaine de Menaut" where the vineyard is located. This well sited château is owned by Philibert Perrin, owner of Château Carbonnieux. There are fifteen hectares of vineyards on fine, gravel soils. The wines display typical Pessac smokiness and are aged in oak (of which 20-30% is new) for 15-18 months, to add to their finesse and complexity.
This oak-aged wine displays the wonderful freshness and minerality of the Sauvignon grape, coupled with aromas of white flowers and exotic ripe fruit on the palate with lovely depth to the finish.
A superb wine to be drunk as an aperitif or, alternatively try with stir fried lobster with scallop mousse.
