This is one of the most famous and historic Saint Julien 2nd growth properties and has also been one of the most popular for many years. It is however a clart that is produced in a very modern, polished style. This wine tasted exceptionally well in April and it is clear to see why it is so popular.
The bouquet is fragrant with mulberry, black cherries and plum fruit aromas, notes of cedar and a hint of black coffee. The palate is lush, generous and open. Dense black fruits dominate with a lick of toasted oak and soft, ripe tannins. A very sumptuous wine filled with blackberry crumble on the finish.
