Château Gloria

This Château is somewhat of an anomaly in Bordeaux. It is made up of small plots purchased from neighbouring Classed Growth properties, including Château Léoville- Poyferré, Château Gruaud-Larose and Château Duhart Milon (who owned a small plot in St-Julien). However, once they were sold to the creator of Château Gloria, Monsieur Henri Martin, the vineyards ceased to possess their Classed Growth status. It is, however, Growth Claret in all but name. 45 hectares of vines with an average age of 45 years old, it continually performs year in year out to the highest level.
A wine with bags of energy and character, this 2019 Gloria is full and forward, with plum and cassis fruits, juicy and fresh balance and lovely fine tannins. There is a touch of spice as well as pencil lead, a smokiness gives added dimension, and the finish is delicious.
Enjoy with a hearty steak and kidney pie with seasonal vegetables
To produce the wine of Chateau Gloria the grapes are vinified in 76 different stainless steel tanks that range in size from 50 hectoliters up to 178 hectoliters. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel. Chateau Gloria is aged in 45% new, French oak barrels for 14 months. On average, the production is close to 20,000 cases of Chateau Gloria per year.
