Château Chasse-Spleen

This renowned property was included in the new Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel classification in 2003, and rightly so as many think it worthy of Cru Classé status. It is always extremely popular with our En Primeur buyers as it provides terrific drinking at a relatively sensible price. Produced from a yield of 50hl/ha, this is a lovely wine.
A big, impressive, intense bouquet of stewed black fruits. The palate is sturdy and chunky with pronounced characters of ripe blackcurrant and damson, finely integrated sawn timber. A subtle streak of boiled jam hints at the warmth of the vintage, tempered by notes of mulberry and pomegranate that add elements of freshness to give a super balance. Big and powerful - a keeper.
Enjoy with sticky spiced lamb shanks and mustard mash!
The vinification is carried out in stainless steel thermoregulated tanks and cement or resin-coated epoxy . The maceration lasts about a month. 18 months in 45% annually renewed oak barrels.
