La Cave de Buxy

Established in 1931, the Caves de Vignerons de Buxy is based in the Côte Chalonnaise, 46km south of Beaune. The vineyards are managed by 120 families who are rewarded for the quality of their grapes rather than the quantity that they produce. Strict viticultural guidelines are followed with a programme of continual vineyard assessments. It is very rare that one can equate Burgundy with affordability as well as quality; however this top Cave Co-operative can certainly lay this claim.

Tasting Notes

Red in appearance with ruby hints. Red fruits on the nose which are typical of Pinot Noir (blackcurrant, morello cherry and redcurrant) with hints of smoke and humus. A beautiful rich and complex wine, with a firm texture and soft elegant tannins and a beautiful balance.

Food Matches

Ideal with meats cooked in a sauce or grilled, such as a choice steak, a burgundy fondue and strong cheeses. With several years ageing, it makes an excellent accompaniment to lamb, duck and game. Serve at a temperature between 16 and 18°C
